Hi Desert_Digs, and a  BIG  Welcome from Golddustcarl in Phoenix, AZ. Just call me Dusty Carl, everyone else does. We have a nice Metal Detecting club here: Arizona Treasures Unlimited, as well as a great Prospectors club: RoadRunner Prospectors Club. I belong to both. Hope to see you sometime.

Dusty Carl

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Welcome to the forum, do you have a detector? and if so what are your fields of interest?

Well...yes and no. I bought a 40$ "detector" to find my goofy sister-in-laws 1000$ diamond earring in our backyard (decorative pea-gravel). Located it in less than 3 minutes! Since then I have been learning how to use it Smiley
We camp and hike in remote areas of our state. What to shoot for coins and relics for something to do while out there.

Jim

Back in the 70's my first detector was a Crusader BFO.   $50.00 ...    Took me months to talk my mom into buying that one.    Found my first Coin a 1954 Silver Quarter two feet from the front Door Step.   Found Placer gold with it too.  I used it to find the Black sands and pan it out.    After buying a Better detector I kicked my self in the Butt for   Scraping it .   It could do stuff the New one could not.
