Welcome Calvin Smiley

Will you be mainly hunting wet areas, dry areas, beaches, surf or what?

Will you be concentrating on coins, gold, iron artifacts, anything and everything or what?

These are important to know in the process of selecting a detector that's suitable for  you.

Best regards,
kd

Hi Calvin,

Hello and  Welcome you have come to the right place now it depends on what you intend to do and what you hope to find.  There are two types of detectors one for use on land and the beach and one for use in the water.
You have to decide which area you are going to do your detecting.  Most people start off with a land based detector and take it from there as they become more experienced and become addicted to to hobby.
Yes it is addictive and a hell of a lot of fun too as you will find out for yourself.

Im not going to advise you on any particular make or model as it depends on your finances but try to get something you can afford to start with initially.

It sounds like you have the entire country to yourself and may well be the first to start detecting where you are so good luck to you....  If you do get lucky then you can always upgrade to a better machine later.
best wishes for the future   regards alan hassell  Wise

My suggestion is to check to see if metal detecting is legal. Last I heard it is not. That's been a few years so things might have changed and it's possible the person who told me could have gotten it wrong, but I doubt it. Maybe you can get a government contract or something.
