Hello everyone, from Lake Greenwood, South Carolina. I am not a treasure hunter persay but I do enjoy the read. So far I have really enjoyed the research that many of you have done and posted. I have found it to be very educational. The only treasure hunting I have done persoanlly was the use of my uncles metal detector back in the 1970's the only thing we found were several 74 cal shot and broken flints from the American Revolution still have them if my own children have not run away with them. They were found within eye shot of the old islandford road that british and colonial troops used going to and from a local battle fields. From what I know, back in those days this islandford road I live next too was like the interstate highway now.

Now that I am older I have a health issue pulminary fibrosis that keeps me from going out into the field and actually doing much. But I love the research for me it is the second best thing to being there.

Doc

Greetings and welcome Doc!

Walk, don't run to your detector shop and get a machine today. At least go look at them and try one out. Believe it or not the exercise you get is very gentle and may actually help your condition. To be sure, check with your doctor but as long as you can walk, you can detect. If you need help getting up and down, bring along a cane. I personally know people with heart conditions, emphysema and other serious ailments who find great joy in the finding of those tiny metal objects. You could also go out and detect with a friend.

To live the life of a treasure hunter vicariously can be fun, too. You can become a research partner for an active detectorist. That way you are involved in a lot of hunts and perhaps go along on some, remaining in the comfort of a deck chair watching as your partner traipses around digging.

The best of luck to you no matter what.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
