Wow, this really is international...there are people from all over the world.
Ever since I was a kid I have been interested in finding old coins (I use to sell ice cream from one those bicycles with the built in cooler. You wouldn't believe some of the old coins that would come my way) and have always been interested in panning for gold as well as using a metal detector. This year my wife gave me a Discovery 2200 that I'm itching to use once the snow melts. Getting this gift has renewed my interest. I'm looking forward checking things out on this forum. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute useful information some day.

Welcome! This site can be overwhelming so grab a cup of coffee and learn how to use the search features. In particular, learn the Advanced search so you can refine your results. Getting too many results is as bad as getting none at all.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Florida, New Mexico......I'm jealous. Minus 25 celsius (-13 fahrenheit) with the wind chill here today and not much warming for the next week or two. This is the never ending winter Cry At this rate, I'll never get to try my new MD
