Go Up Go Down

Just getting into the hobby and just starting to look into buying a detector.  Can you guys suggest and model to look at or to stay away from> also Cabelas or ebay ?  Or just use my best judgement.
Not planning on getting rich but I like the fact of finding lost things that could be worth something.  Maybe if my first detector gets paid for i can upgrade to a more expensive model.  My budget is 150 to 200 dollars and would like the best all around detector.
Thanks in advance

hello 1trkpony.   As you'll find out once you do the search seldom suggested, there are several detectors that will fit the bill.  In the final analysis, it will come to personal preference and feel  (but read the posts so you know what to look for and which detectors the members think are best in that price range).

Welcome from New Mexico!    Garrett and Whites make the Best.   Stay away from the Chines stuff.

If you have the funds Tesero and others kick.

 Great

Greetings from Australia. Welcome.

As far as a detector is concerned, make a list of the things you imagine yourself finding and also decide where you plan to look for them. Beach? Park? Rings? Coins? Gold? And so forth. When you have your list, go to a web site like KellyCo and see what brands and models come close to both your needs and your budget.

Since you haven't much experience at the moment, play that little game I described and bring back some of your choices to discuss them.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
