Go Up Go Down

Hello,
Well finally took the plunge after drooling over everyone's finds for several weeks.  I bought a Garrett ADS III , it's 140 years old :-)
I found it on Craigslist and it actually looks like it's brand new, obviously rarely used in all that time, original instructions and case, with protection foam --works perfectly and from what i read it has good depth and some early discrimination technology.  It's heavy and burns 9 volt batteries, takes 6 of them!

Now for the big news, i found a penny!  So obviously I'm well on my way to fame and fortune.  Anyways, my name is Steve and I'll make sure to take a picture of my penny sometime.

Welcome to the Forum from New Mexico.    Yep, your ADS III is at least 100 years old.    I still use a ADS (Original No 1 11 or 111)

It must be at least 200 years old.  Older then the coins I find for sure.

Other then being so heavy, It can keep up with most of the New stuff if you know what your doing with it.  LOL

Welcome Steve! That's my one and only, so far. Got Mine at a garage sale, even had the original cassette tape to explain the features of the ADS III. I am only about 45 days ahead of you, but picking up a lot of good finds...and a lot of trash metal, but I hunt some pretty trashy spots. Save up for batteries and Happy Hunting, Poptop!

Welcome aboard from Tennessee. That "old" machine will do you a good job when you learn it's language.
