Thanks for the welcome guys, I didn't realise that you were all out finding the goodies while I was slogging away working! I'll just have to hope that somebody has lost something in the last few years and that I'm lucky enough to find it. I can always get out my old box of finds from all that time ago, I know there are some cartwheel pennies in there from the Thames, I wish I'd stuck to the hobby way back then, I reckon the river was full of stuff as metal detectors were almost unheard of over here in the UK then. I wish we had gold nuggetts here, never heard of any being found, but did you know that the streets of London are paved with gold, and I'm only an hour's drive from there.
Regards,
Tony

Hay Tony,

I had tha same thing goin. I retired early when I bacame disabled. Got back into
metal detectin. I have surpassed anything that I had hoped for. Detecting is better
than it ever was. It is you that will make the difference, not tha so called hunting
conditions. You are poised to have a great time, and be very successful. I do know
what I am talkin about. You have tha best hobby just waiten on you to learn tha
pleasures it has to offer.

Be proud. Be bold. It is there for the taking.

I just love this hobby. If you can just get into what you are doing and forget all
about tha treasure. Just get in a zone and detect. You will be motivated.

Read these forums. Post a lot. Ask dumb questions. You you will gain pricelesss
info on these forums.

Thanke fer joining us,

Tabdog

Thanks for the encouragement Tabdog, I'm so pleased  to be returning to the hobby. You guys will be the first to know when I find something interesting (note interesting, not valuable, I just love holding something lost perhaps a hundred years ago).
Best regards,
Tony

I can see, you already got it bad. It is an addiction.
It only gets worse after this. There is no turnin back.
You have fallen into a bottomless pit of enjoyment
and frustration.

That is tha same thing that got me.

Happy huntin,

Tabdog

Addicted? Who's addicted. Not me. I can quit any time I want to. In fact, this week is the last week ever. Um, wait. This MONTH is the last month ever. Oh, heck. I'll make a clean break next year. Wait. Make it a New Year's Resolution for, let's say, 2025. Works for me.

But see? I'm not addicted. I can quit.

Have a look at the attachment. My office is a quarantine area. Seriously.

Love the sign, I'm pretty sure I could give up all my hobbies, I've set a date for the turn of the century, I know I won't be detecting then!
Regards,
Tony
