Go Up Go Down

I would like to introduce myself: My name is Gerald and I am new at treasure hunting. I have had my metal detector for several years (5) now but I have not learned to use it to its potential. I moved to Virginia for a job right after I got it and so it has set in storage since. Except for a brief stint where I loaned it to my future son in law (and he broke it) Devil. It is a KellyCo. MP5 Pro. I knew when I bought it that I wanted to do this as a hobby but life got in the way. I was laid off for almost 2 years (from the job I moved to VA for) and you would have thought that I would have time to learn to use it. But the time was spent trying to find another job. Anyway, I have finally decided to start enjoying a hobby instead of just worrying about this sorry economy. You just have to start living life outside of the job place. I came across this site a couple of days ago when I was looking for information on treasure hunting. I have only been a member a couple of days but I already feel like this is the place I need to be. Everyone that I have talked with has been very helpful. Lots of luck to everyone on this site!

Thanks for the welcome.  It is broken in a way. He had somehow broken the area where the screw goes through the head. I was able to rig it with some small pieces of plywood and super glue Shocked to hold the head on. Talk about a redneck detector Funny. Anyways it will work fine until I can replace the head. I am going to start trying to talk to some land owners close by to get permission to hunt.

The parts are gone, that is why I had to fabricate. I am gone too. Back tomorrow. Later!

gerhol12

Welcome to thunting.com

With a bit of epoxy and some glass fiber you will be able to repair your detector like new (Even better) to cut cost make a mold out of wax then chop up the glass fiber in bits place it in your mold, pour some epoxy in it and let it set once this is done glue it to the coil with a bit more epoxy and you'e done.

Happy hunting
Xavier

Welcome from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon!  Welcome  Also, welcome to the wonderful world of treasure hunting!  Already sounds like you are headed in the right direction.  Sorry about the lousy economy and its negative affect on you.  You are right that metal detecting will take your mind off those kind of things...  it won't change  it, but it will give you some relief!

This is the place to be to learn, socialize with those of similar interests, and get to know some just good guys and girls!

Welcome and enjoy!                 Detecting
