Hi guys, I need help for a project i want to get  done:)
It will be mounted in a plant, items will fall through a tunnel with detector coil(s) this tunnel needs to be minimum 45-50cm in diameter, i need this detector to detect thin aluminium pieces of about 1x1cm..

Is this even possible?? Voltage is not a issue..

You do realize that these kinds of machines are already in production worldwide in the food inspection industry. You'd be reinventing the wheel, as it were.

Go to the US Patent and Trademark office and you will find several patents on this topic.

Be mindful of liability issues. Cheaper might apply to manufacture of your equipment but the high prices of equipment is because of the added cost in guaranteeing here won't be missed particles causing human harm in the end result. Your machine could land you a huge fine or settlement for damages if it fails to miss a piece that causes damage or injury.

Case in point. A rope clip used in logging was used to direct the felling of trees. All was well for this magnificent device until one fell into a commercial wood chipper. The blades flew in all directions killing the operator of the chipper. The ensuing lawsuit nearly crippled the manufacturer of the clip which is now made of high strength plastic which can safely be chopped up if accidentally ingested by the chipper. We can no doubt agree that the operator or the person responsible for putting the wood into the chipper was a tault but we also both know that the deepest pocket pays damages.

Just be warned that building the "cheapest" option is not always a good thiing or desirable.

By the way, I am retired from electronics engineering with several patents in the area we are now discussing. I have direct experience in what I am discusing with you. Do NOT be discouraged. You may indeed discover a better and less expensive way to do things. I offer my advice only to give you a play list of things of which to be careful. Just file them away in the back of your mind and apply the warnings to your end product.

Magnets can be used to deflect (momentarily repel) aluminum in a conveyor stream or freefall feed system, to separate it from other materials, if that is your goal.
