Hey,

I am looking to get a metal detector and I have never had one before. Any ideas on what type of detector I should get and how much I should pay?

Hope to hear from ya'll!!

Hello Woodsaj7, and Welcome to the forum from Utah!
This is just the introduction thread for all new people. There's another thread in the forum for 'beginners', and you can post that question in there.

You'll probably want to start out with something inexpensive.. get comfortable with it, and play around... parks, playgrounds, schools, etc. Then if you decide to stick with it.. then the sky is the limit.
There are several very good manufacturers of M/D, so it kind of depends on your budget, and what your specific interests are.

Hope that helps,and Happy Hunting!
 Grin

Welcome from New Mexico. Yep, the Beginner's Thread would be a good place to look around in.

Hi Woodsaj7 and welcome from northern Thailand!  If you're handy with a soldering iron you could build your first detector. This would help in understanding how it works too. Welcome

Welcome to the forum Smiley
What ever you buy make sure you read the manual and UNDERSTAND it.
it makes a big difference when you know what the detector is telling you.
