Hi all,
My name is Richard and i have been detecting for 7 years and last year found my first gold coin,a quarter stater of the Cantii tribe.
I am a member of a couple of detecting clubs and have a couple of farms that i can go to when i can.
When i am not searching land i do beaches which i will do more of this year.
I use the E.trac and Deus detectors and on sandy beaches the Whites T.D.I.
I live in the Southeast of England.

Hi Richard & Welcome! I google'd Cantii as I wasn't familiar with them. I see they were the first tribe in Britain to issue their own coinage to serve as small change. How neat that you found one of their coins. Congrats! Great to have you as a member! Sue

Hi Richard.

Welcome to THunting.   Sounds like you're going to be a valued member.  I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of some of your finds.

Hi Rich,

Glad to hear from you - I am in the SE too - Oxfordshire.
Nice detectors you have there!
I am yet to find my first gold coin - have a couple of gold rings, and silver; hammereds and Roman, but gold is elusive..

Wow, not only are those pretty, but some of them have more detail than I've seen outside a major museum (not that I've had the opportunity to see very many of any of them outside a museum of any size).
