Go Up Go Down

Hello from Southeast Virginia.
I am new to this forum, but not to the hobby.
I have been detecting for 37+ years now.
My favorite type of detecting is old swimming holes on the rivers and lake of SE Va & NE NC.
Living so close to the ocean, I do enjoy salt water wet sand and surf hunting, at least until the water temp. rises in the swimming holes.
I have also been known to dig in the dirt from time to time. I wouldn't call myself a relic hunter by no means, but I have found a fair amount of Civil War relics at some of the locations I hunt.
I have been unable to hunt as much as I would like to for the past 18 or so months due to back problems and a recent motorcycle accident. I am starting to recover enough to take an occasional spin at the beach.
I look forward to reading about your members hunts and seeing pictures of your finds.
Good Luck!
Jack fro Chesapeake,VA

Greetings, Jack, from Australia! I'll bet a few of those detectors came from H & S Detectors in Virginia Beach.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Your right GoldDigger1950,
I did buy the one of the Whites from H&S (Rusty Henry), I also sold him my 6000-D GEB, on one of his return trips from Australia. Last I heard he was still digging nuggets in the land down under.
The other Whites and Compass was bought from H&S (Ken Schaffer), who took over after Rusty left. I used to love hanging out at that shop, talking with Ken, Shotz and all of the local detectorist, I learned so much from those guys.
Man those were the greatest metal detecting days ever! Silver coins were everwhere!
