Hello Sue,

That is a heck of an idea. Ha ha. I laugh now but it is a long way to a hospital from there if one were to get nipped by one of the snakes.  We use to see several dozen in a day in that area.  We just got REALLY use to walking around them and listening for them to rattle.  We were lucky cause we were out every single day.

That's what I was thinking. Wow, seems that you  know where a treasure is just waiting for you to come and grab it. I bet you can't wait for winter. Better get to that cave before a hunter or hiker finds it. Being from MN I don't have much experience with snakes (although there are some rattlers in the southern part of the state) but they still scare the hell out of me and would definately keep me out of a cave. I stopped in Taos briefly on my way from Albuquerque to Wolf Ridge, CO.  Sure is beautiful country out there.

Smiley Just joking about mongoose. My luck, he'd weasle out on his duties. My grandfather taught me to always stomp along if I was in copperhead areas so they'd feel the vibration & think something big and dangerous was approaching. Seemed to work as the only ones I'd ever see were making a fast exit. Suppose it would be same for rattlers. Sue
