Hello all,

I am a new member to your boards and just wanted to introduce myself. I got started detecting about a year ago and havent looked back since. First became interested after watching some videos by TreasureFiend on youtube.

I started with a ace 250 and am now using a F5 with a propointer. I sometimes will hit the parks or beaches for hunts but usually enjoy researching old sites and take off exploring with gps in hand. I have not got rich since starting...but who has?? Well aside from those lucky few in Europe that find those big treasure troves.

All in all this is a great hobby and even if I come home skunked or with nothing more than modern clad I am happy just to have gotten out and had the chance to relax and explore. A couple months ago I started making my own hunt videos for youtube. It started simply because I have hit some fantastic places and wanted a record to look back on and share with others....

HH all and hello from the Oregon coast!!

Hi & welcome aboard. Know what you mean about even coming home, after a hunt, and not doing especially well - still nice to get out and honed the detecting skills a bit more. Sometime you'll have to give a link to your youtube videos. Nice to have you as a member. Sue

Hello Monolyth.     Welcome to THunting.com.   Nice to know you value research.   Sometimes that as much of a kick as the actual fieldwork (and it sure makes a nice space filler when the weather isn't cooperating).

BA in Arizona

Very true about the weather. Especially as I live in Oregon where it rains constantly. I have ample time to research and check forums for others discoveries and watch detecting vids.

Thx all for the warm welcomes. BTW since your from AZ, will let you know that I recently had the chance to detect for the lost treasure of Arizonas legends...Ed Scheffelin.  I researched and found his final cabin site in Oregon where he died. Detected around there and found lots of artifacts. Also according to legend he found a final HUGE gold strike laced with blue quartz. I found piles of that blue quartz at the nearest creek enterance where he had been working it.

Thx again all!!

Ed sure had a nose for the precious metals, didn't he?   If you have any pictures of that blue quartz, I'm sure I'm not the only member that would be interested in seeing them (with or without gold).

Not the best pics, but here you go. I still have some of the ore I pulled out of the stream. If you want will photo it with new cam. This was taken with old one. When you see it close up you can see that it is blue quartz.

These contain some gold...I pulverized some and panned them out. But must have just been cast offs. Checked the stream area for a long ways and the quartz did not come from the stream.
