 Hello everyone,

Tried a posting before but forgot to add the subject first!!
I have been detecting at the goldfields & also parks, beaches etc for
several years. Love the bush & all it holds & enjoy the nights sitting,
chatting with a wee drink around the campfire.
I have done very well these past four trips out gold detecting...before that
I used an old 1700 but now using a GPX4500 & it has made a HUGE difference
in my tally.....I use the X-TERRA70 for beach & park detecting....going to try the
Terra in junk areas out bush this time....interested in hearing from others
also doing this??
My hubby [who does not detect but is camp master & dog sitter!!], a son & his wife
along with myself are right now packing up, heading for the goldfields in 2 days! Whoopppee!!
Looking forward to posting & reading when we return.
Cheers,
Kath

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Do you know Max Cramer? He is an old pal of mine as is Hugh Edwards. Those names HAVE to ring a bell with any treasure hunter from Australia.

Hugh worked for the West Australian newspaper as a journalist and wrote Islands of Angry Ghosts about the Batavia. He and Max dove together many years ago and discovered the Batavia together. Max discovered the French coins buried on the mountaintop which proved the French were here as well as the Dutch. In his book, Treasure, Tragedy and Triumphs of the Batavia Coast, he describes what led him to search for the coin and where he found it. Max and Hugh both recently received the Order of Australia - Max in 2008 and Hugh was awarded his this year.
