There was a lot of gold mining activity north and east of Boise up in the mountains.  Still a lot of recreational miners busy in those areas.  Also, I believe there is some commercial mining still going on in some of that country.  Also, south of Boise, closer the the Nevada border there was a lot of mining taking place in the Silver City area on War Eagle Mountain and vicinity.  Lot of ghost towns and sites in those places, too.
