Hello everybody. I have a question about IDX PRO RX coil .
Can we attach it on TX coil and measure the frequency like we can do with TGSL project , or we have to make a frequency generator, by the way I made one but it gives  wrong results, I attached to it the IDX PRO TX coil it gives 15.96 khz and the RX 8.85khz so I cant remove turns from rx because the generator does not give results properly . note that the IDX PRO TX coil when I attach it to pcb of idx metal deector it gives the proper frequency 6.59Khz
but the Rx coil I'm asking if I can use the idx pro pcb to set it as I done with Tx coil .
please help me
thanx

Your Whites coil has tuning components within the coil it's self. Those and the Coil it's self are Part of the Tx Oscillator.  The Rx coil is just Coil alone as far as I know.  Taping into the Rx coil at the connector when detector is running you should be able to see what it's picking up.   The receive coil will be tuned for something like 800Hz below the Tx Freq or something like that.

In short , No you can not check it as you could the TGSL.

Are you trying to build a new coil or check a factory coil ?

thank you very much but , you didn't get the problem

I built IDX PRO metal detector "the pcb" and the Tx coil with the rigth frequency 6.59kHz when I connect it to pcb . now I'm trying to set RX coil frequency which should be run at 4.60KHz , the problem can I cnnect it on TX coil connector as I didi for the Tx coil ,or I have to build a frequency generator and I connect it and read the frequency?
by the way I made a frequency generator for RX coil but it gives a wrong reading because when I tried the TX coil with it it give 15.65 khz which is not the right frequency for TX coil it should be 6.59khz so I can't set the RX coil with this frequency generator then I ask if there is other method like the TGSL project where we can use TX oscillator to set RX frequency .
please help me  Undecided

As I stated the Tx of the coil on original detector has Tuning components with in the coil.   Your Test oscillator is not tuned the same as the detector PCB is or should be.

The Rx freq your saying sound a bit low I'm thinking.   As I stated you can not use the TX to find the RX because the TX should have tuning components in it the way Whites does it.  I have no schematic.   Do you have the schematic ?   With Tx running , measure the Rx coil Freq.  When you have it right you should see a rise in signal at the required frequency.

Are you making this coil ?  or trying to Tune the PCB Receive ?

I'm trying to make a 27 cm DD coil for whites idx pro I have a problem concerning RX frequency setting " to remove turns until I get 4.69KHz . but my frequency generator gave me a wrong reading so i decided to ask if can I attach RX instead of tx and then measure its frequency and set it at 4.69khz and hen attach it to RX connector and finnally I can do nulling procedure.

Did you  use the Tuning cap in the Tx Coil like Whites does ?  Your Tx may not even funtion connected to the Rx coil.  Try it and see.  Nothing bad will happen.
