My former father in law new the desert west o Blackfoot like the back of his hand, having spent his youth hauling water and supplies {with his father) to sheep herders , he grew up near Grandview/Springfield area. He loved to roam the desert showing us places such as Split Top Butte, Government Cave, the gentile ruins ect. It was at a place he called Stage Coach Spring at the base of Big Southern Butte, he told me about a Stage robbery that happened between Arco and Blackfoot. He said the outlaws were caught but no gold ever found. Does anyone know of  this or is it just a story ?

Troy was just a story until Heinrich Schliemann believed in it  and brought it back to life.

Hi, Tinman, welcome to the forum from northeastern Oregon!   Welcome

You might have to give us some more detail on that lost stolen loot story because there are a number of similar stagecoach robbery stories in and around that area.  I'll try to find something in my files for you.
