the poland pi is thefirst pulse induction metal detector that i had made and it works really great i use a spiral coil with 22 awg 16 meters stranded copper wire with the coil inside diameter is 6.5" and outside diameter is 9" and i tested it outside at a black sand and normal soil and it was not affected by ground effects and thats great so i burried a 22mm coin and at 10 inches it very clear signal...even at 11"....but one thing the tone is pretty unstable when iam nere a transmission lines about 50 to 70 meters...instead of a motor boating sound it creates a electrical sound when it detects but the depth is just the same noting changes all in all this detector is great..thumbs up

Well done, I wish that I was able to get my detector to work as well.
About the noise from electrical lines, did you happen to leave the search coil unshielded?

Just a thought.
