i haven't been in 3 weeks and its getting to hot now.  i usually go to the west side of the flag ship hotel.
found about 50 coins the last time out.  nothin old or silver.  i like to go to freeport  i've found olde coins their
last time i was in oklahoma i found two merc's, gold ring with 3 diamonds, two bar dimes.  i found them in old yards.  we had been getting alot of rain and the soil was good and the dirt was black color.  it was great.

i have been digging since the 80's my first silver dollar was an old chile 1881 coin found at a bus stop in denton, texas about 20 years ago.  i work the curbs, hot

looking for a good digger.  one to work beach and land?  any sugguestions?  i'm leaning to fisher 1280x but have read reviews and read fisher help line really sucks and no life time warranity.  what do you think?wally

I have been looking at the fisher 1280 myself need a new water mach. My first detector was a Jetco bought in 1971 upgraded to a Garrett a year or so later and used them till last year when I got a BH. I did very little coin hunting for years just artifacts and cache hunting. I lost several detectors to Ike or the looting after.
I like to use a ice scoop on the beach its lite and big so you can move some sand, in parks etc I used a knife when I hunted them now I see lots of digging tools out there but can't say whats best. Outback, Paul A or someone had a tread going that had a lot of info about diggers maybe you can find it.
Never hunted Freeport much but know people who have made some good finds on the beachs there.

FORT BEND MUSEUM, RICHMOND, TEXAS 281-342-6478.  ITS A SMALL MUSEUM BUT HAS ALOT OF GOOD INFORMATION ABOUT AUSTIN COLONY AND HISTORY OF THE AREA.  I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW GOOD THE BOOK A SEARCH FOR TEXAS, BY BOBBY J MCKINNEY IS.  EVERY PAGE HAS A PICTURE OF TREASURE FOUND AND GIVES THE LOCATION.  THE BOOK IS 24.00 DOLLARS, BUT ITS GOOD.  THEIR ARE ALOT OF OLD HOUSES AROUND THEIR, GET PERMISSION AND HAVE FUN.  FREEPORT BEACH IS ANOTHER GOOD PLACE TO DIG.  FORT VELASCO IS ANOTHER GOOD PLACE.  THE BOOK IS FULL OF LOCATIONS.

ENJOY    WALLY
