Welcome to the forum. I do have to wonder, however.

How on earth did you put one together without either of those?

Ah, I see. Been there, done that.

We do have a download area which you can reach via the menu above. We might have one on file there.

Hello all
I have a user manual to pulse vandal 3
However, it becomes more likely if the sensitivity increases
If the sensitivity drops, it becomes ineffective and does not reveal things that are far from the search coil
Or maybe I do not know its use
Or there is a mistake in making the research coil

I do not know the machine but I know some basics.  Did you Set the Damping Resistor on the coil ?

hello all
thanks Homefire
Yeah . I made different search coil sizes ... and made the resistance 3_3.5 .... as mentioned in the user manual
And the unit also recognizes the electrical induction .. It is from 450 to 600
If you say resistance to search coil, the device does not recognize the search coil

Sub-menu:
1. POWER-power of unit /value 1-20 / value at 20, the width of the main pulse is 500uS.
After selecting the POWER unit will restart and will automatically search for new settings
/TIMING/.Recommended value 7-10.
2. VOLUME- Volume control value 0-10.
3. MODE- choice work mode.
3.1. ALL METAL- mode for all metals without discrimination.
3.1.1. VCO/ON- operation including VCO.
In the presence of the signal on the display but no sound indication – it is Overload /
OVERLOAD /.
3.1.2. VCO / OFF- operation at off VCO.
Both modes have high sensitivity and graphical visualization the signal level.
3.2. DISCRIMINATION-Discrimination mode / separation of the metals /ferrous and
nonferrous metals.
3.2.1. DISC-TONE - operation with two-tone discrimination. High tone for non-ferrous
metals and low tone for ferrous metals. On the display is visualization VDI graphic with
middle value number 45. Indication below 45 is considered to be a ferrous metal, they are
negative values. An indication of more than 45 is considered a non-ferrous metal, they are
positive values.
Values at selected low sensitivity of the device from 40 to 50 , is considered dead zone or
visualization on the display, but without sound signal. Value of the 40 to 50 it is considered
that the device can not recognize type metal object and did not indicates sound, only visually
on display.
3.2.2. DISC-REJECTOIN –Discrimination mode with iron rejection. In this mode, the device
beeps only non-ferrous metals.
4. DELAY- first sample. In this submenu can manually change the value of DELAY/first
sample/ from 0 to 20. Recommended value 3-4.After manipulation in this sub menu and select
DELAY value, unit will restart and try to search new value DELAY from operator selected.
If after changing the value of DELAY, unit can not be started, then the value DELAY is out
of range. Depend from your coil. Minimum or maximum value of DELAY might be out of
range and the device can not start. In this situation, the operator pressed once encoder to enter
the menu OFFLINE mode and increase or decrease the value of DELAY so that it can start
properly.
5. BACKLIGHT- choice backlight display.
5.1. ON- backlight turns on.
5.2. OFF- OFF backlight.
5.3. AUTO- backlight only with signal.
6. SENSITIVITY- sensitivity. Value of 1 to 20. A value of 1- unit has the highest sensitivity.
7. DISC VALUE- Select discrimination value from 0 to 20.
Selects the value of the discrimination unit, for best discriminate ferrous and nonferrous
metals. At minimum values all metals are detected as non-ferrous. In maximum values all
metals are detected as ferrous (this depends on the coil).Selected average.
8. TRESHOLD- threshold sensitivity of the device. Value of 0 to 20.
At 0 -maximum threshold, higher sensitivity.
In the 20 threshold lower sensitivity.
This value can be selected by default work mode, without having to enter the main menu.
Recommended value 4
9. FREQUENCY- frequency.
Selecting the operating frequency:
60Hz = 100Hz.
100 Hz = 250 Hz.
280 Hz = 500 Hz.
600 Hz = 850 Hz.
Recommended operating frequency of 100 Hz.
At maximum operating frequency device consumes much more power.
10. BACK LIGHT-VAL-value brightness of the display from 0 to 10.
At 0- minimum illumination.
At 10 - maximum illumination.
11. EXIT-OK-out menu.
Power consumption of the device:
Depends on the selected coil, operating frequency and POWER value.
Can vary from 200mA.to 1.5Ah.
Turning off the unit by pushing and holding button on the board "POWER" ON / OFF, for a
few seconds. On display will show SHUT DOWN OFF and the unit will turn off.
When you turn off from button, the unit has no power consumption.
If you want use speaker /not piezo/ you easy can remove piezo and connect speaker, you must
remove jumper. Speaker must be 32om. or more, small resistance speaker may damaged your
unit or will be very unstable.
Making coil and setup it.
1. Coil must be made from enameled copper wire
With diameter of 0.5-0.7 mm.
Frame coil 1x1m. About 12 turns from 0.5 mm. flexible cable.
Data of coil: 3-3.5 ohm and 400-600uh.
Parallel resistor is chosen individually according to the coil. The default value is 330R / 2W.
If the unit does not start with your coil, you need to select correct value of the parallel resistor
which the device recognizes the coil and starts.

Those numbers on the Coil sound strange compared to most PI I've messed with.   All I have played with the L and R are a bit lower.

Inductance :   300 - 500uH

DC Resistance :  1 - 3 Ohms.

With that high of Inductance the Flyback would be quite high.  Your numbers would take quite some time for the coil to settle down.

What are your  for Sample Delay times ?

Hello friend
What do you advise me to do?
There is a thing as the search coil  resistance increases, the unit becomes stable
I made it 4.4 OHM was stable and the distinction between metals is good
Make copper wires smaller enough to increase resistance in search coil

Posted on: May 05, 2018, 08:32:16 am
Delay 3
Sometimes the unit does not recognize the search coil
So make the delay 5

On Delay what is the Micro Seconds of delay ?   3 and 5 are the Menu Setting ?   Try to use a Known Coil.
