waterproofing is one of the hardest engineering problems to overcome, besides a lander on venus i mean, and other than ikelite i know of no real long term successes, and even ikelite eventually gives out.  i tried once to put a detector in an ikelite camera case i bought for that reason, and it was ugly.  i even spent big bux on the supposedly waterproof cable fittins and the like.  The more i think about it the uglier it gets.  I toyed with novel ideas and innovations, one was a waterproof bag that could be used for various models, and it was probably the most realistic of my designs.  I have seen old waterproof detectors where the works were actually embedded in plastic, i dont like that, but it did work, and early.  Eventually all waterproofing gives out, and just opening and closing the thing allows vapors to corrode the pcbs.  i used to like to buy used, but anything that has ever been near or in water is already on its way out, imho.  Good luck and do write back if you have ideas you want to discuss.....b
