First off, I did not find this item.  It was found by a friend of mine.  I did do some research for him regarding it prior to publishing this picture and an article in our local club paper.  I'm posting it here as a reference piece for those of you are interested in Scout memorabilia
The slide dates back to the 1949 to 1951 period when the Boy Scouts of America were celebrating their 40th anniversary.   There were two versions made, one like this with the Boy Scout logo in the top right corner as you face the wearer, and one with the Cub Scout logo in the same spot.  As part of the 40th anniversary celebration, the theme of which was "Strengthen the Arm of Liberty" Boy Scouts from various communities bought approximately 200 copper clad copies of the Statue of Liberty for about $300 to $350 + shipping which they then donated to their communities.  Each statue was 100 inches tall (not including the base which had to be provided either by the community or the local scouts).      About 100 of these "Little Sisters of Liberty" have been accounted for and can be seen at

Thanks.  By the way, that "Strengthen the Arm Of Liberty" 40th Anniversary drive also saw a 50% increase in the membership numbers from the beginning of 1949 to the beginning of 1951.   An important period for those of us who followed later.

I have been in scouts since I was a kid. Recently I I became the charter organization rep. For a local Boy Scouts Venturing Crew I am going to show them thiw topic and see if they would like to plan a tp to go metal detecting/treasure hunting. I think it will go over well
