Inspired from Blunoser’s dog tag collection I decide to put together a collection of lost keys I found since the beginning of the year.
Looks like that there are a lot of people locked out of there cars or houses.
I will try to report on the topic regularly and perhaps count the tally the end of the year.
As from today 6-Feb-2013 its 51 keys

I have all of mine on a bobbit chain. Must weight 30 pounds and is half as tall as me. You can't avoid them and for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to throw them into the scrap brass bin.

Most of them are house keys. There are 2-3 car keys and some small brass-padlock keys.

Go Up Go Down

I found a set of keys once that belonged to a Mercedes Bendz owner. It was quite a large set of keys found at a beach in Perth. Well, I rang the first local Mercedes dealer and the person on the line siad, my goodness, the owner might be right here now. Sure enough. So she put him on and we negotiated a time and place to meet.

When he arrived, he told me that his keys with 5 remote functions opened everything. His car, his trunk, his garage, his gated community entrance and even disabled the house alarm. On the key ring were a dozen master keys that opened every door to his businesses. All in all, a considerable safety risk there. While he was ordering a new set at the dealers, he was told that a replacement was $400.00. He estimated that changing all of his locks on his businesses would cost him over $2,000. Needless to say, he was grateful. We had coffee, chatted a bit and when he stood up to leave, he offered me an envelope. Initially, I re3fused but he told me that he nearly cried about the loss and was so grateful that an honest person had found them. He left but insisted that if I didn't take the envelope, he would leave it on the table at the coffee shop. I thanked him and gratefully accepted it.

Inside, I later found out, was an effusive thank you note from his wife and himself along with 4 crisp $100.00 bills. By far one of my best finds ever. That one didn't make it into my key collection. And blow me down, I forgot to even take a picture of them.
