Hi,

With many years in the pawn business....

We had to report (in NC) all pawns and purchases to the Sheriffs Department.  BUT, it's how the pawned item is
listed that may create questions.  Gold bars may have a reaction.  But gold scrap likely would not.

If "I" found such a stash... I'd probably find a private buyer (shops that make jewelry) for some, make a few vials
of gold flakes to sell on EBay or maybe pour my own bars with some scrap gold mixed in to prevent the gov. from
stepping in and interfering (yes, they all too often do) due to too pure gold.

Heck, you find a stash... there will be many folks who can give you help I'm sure.  Gold and silver are such a big
horde item these days... I doubt you will have much trouble finding "customers" (keep me in mind!).

That would be a waste of time and gold, natural gold looks much different than someone who is trying to make a fake nuggett it is really easy to tell the difference, and anyone with any experience will immediatly know the difference.

I was just reading your other post about finding nuggetts they are worth 3-10 times the spot price for gold, nuggetts are prized as specimen collector items, so if you find a nuggett please sell it to me for the standard gold price I will take all you can find!!!

Look up gold refiners and they will melt it down for you for a small fee.

I do NOT believe what I am reading, here!

IF you take your NUGGETS  to a smelter, you will get 80 percent to 95 percent of face value! The true value, to nugget buyers is face value , plus 10 to 50% MORE!

Furthermore, deuceman, any refinery/foundry/smelter that charges YOU a small fee is bleeding a sucker!

Sorry, I just HAD  to say that.

The best outfit that I Know of is Midwest Refineries.   They pay 95% Spot and no tax trail other then the check.

Check in the mail three days after they receive gold.

What makes you think he is suggesting sending
gold nuggets to a smelter?

Deuceman was responding to the original post in
this thread which was asking about "a stash of gold
or silver bars or something you can?t just go to the
?Cash for Treasure" Store".

Good answer Deuceman.... Smiley

Tell Goldigger to read tha thread.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Sorry guys, you are in error, his post came right after this one, above, and the subject/topic has been on nuggets, all along!  Cool

Nuggets, from anywhere, are always worth more than face value, by as much as you can get, never at a smelter, either. Unless  you made the nuggets.

I think you assumed he was responding to the stash, he did not say so, and I did read the thread, jeez, do not be so cranky!

goldigger.

Hardly. The original poster was asking about making fake nuggets from gold bars to make them easier to sell.
