Go Up Go Down

We where blessed with a awesome find today. I live in a rural area and come from a family that has always worked, lived , and played in the outdoors. Lucky I married a beautiful woman who shares my love for the outdoors and is just as passionate as I am about all the outdoors have to offer. Today is the first day of archery season where we live and my wife went out with her bow and tried to get a deer. I got the kids off to school and was getting ready to head to town when she came in from the woodz and decided to ride with me. As we where driving into town we noticed a police car along the road and there was a deer sitting there in the grass that had been clipped by a vehicle. Traffic was heavy and I went down to the business I had to go to and decided I would stop on the way back trough and see what they where going to do with the deer. When we came back through everybody was gone and the deer was laying there. The law in our state says if someone hits a deer and they leave it the first person who comes along has the right to take the deer, so we loaded it up. When I got it home I noticed the policeman had shot it behind the ear. It may seem strange to some people, eating "roadkill", but to us its like coming upon a treasure. To me, the way I was raised, I was taught to respect nature and not to waste things, especially food. This young, small, tender doe will be processed into several meal that will feed our family several times. The meat is a special treat when ages and prepare properly. It makes awesome burger that is very lean. Its so lean that we have to mix a fatty hamburger in with it to give it the proper amount of fat other wise its too lean and does not cook up right. Treasure can be found in many places and this venison will surely be treasured by us! Great Heres a pic of my wife in her hunting blind..

We marinate them and then wrap them in bacon. I burn some oak and hickory and let it burn down till it turns to coals then toss the butterflied back straps on the grill. Kiss
