ww2 airplane exhaust

(1/1)

uncle ray:
Any info from the masters about platinum being used for making an airplane exhaust on ww2 planes?Specifically allied planes. Platinum is being used these days to line the exhaust of a jet engine, but i can't find any info about ww2 airplanes exhaust made of platinum other than the metal being used in spark plugs during ww2. Hope to get some answer from the masters thank you

I very much doubt Platinum would have been used on WW2 aircraft exhausts , due to rarity and cost of Platinum . I think Stainless steel and Copper was the usual material used ..cheers Mick

Thank you mick for the info. The specs of the ww2 airplane exhaust that's about 120 cm long 15 cm diameter tube about .5 centimeter thick and it weights 18kgs the color is some what grayish white. It's really heavy for it's size and i doubt that stainless and copper weight that much for it's size.cheers
