Any advice? I will be spending some time at the park. I called the park office and they informed me they sold $5 permits, but I did not get the feeling they actually want anyone hunting anywhere.

I talked to one of the park officers when I was up there a few years ago and he did not say anything about me not being able to use my detector there. Could be just the individual who you talk to.  Police
I did not find a damn thing, a few clad coins, but I sure had a good time trying. Detecting
That is a remarkable lake to say the least. It is really beautiful. The water is crystal clear and cool.
There was one place I wanted to investigate but I needed a fully submersible unit. The area where they dock the yachts. Now that looked prime. Cool
Good luck and let us know how you do there.......
