No, but I did swim here as a child. There is a large sandbar just below this photo. A big gathering place for Southerners who are looking to cool off during the dog days of summer. It is on my todo list.

I've wondered about going over there, but thought it was part of Muskgrove Mills park, and I think I read somewhere MD'ing is a no-no in side the park.

Todd, what many here will tell you is that experience reveals nearby campsites used by those same travelers yields some fabulous finds. If an incident happened in a protected area, the troops had to get there by traveling through the surrounds. This becomes an opportunity to find their resting places, watering places, mustering sites and so on.

Look at a battlefield as an example of many troops facing each other. They didn't just pop into existence there and begin fighting. First, one side or the other had a plan to go from point A and take control of point B. Orders were given, smaller contingencies were amassed into larger ones and a trek began. It may have taken hours, days or weeks and along that trek, many stops had to be made. We have this weakness as humans in that we need food, water and rest occasionally. All that human activity took place in concealed places - away from enemy eyes and bullets. Thus, some of the most obscure places become areas of great relic productivity.

Battlefields and historic sites may be protected and probably should be due to the actions of some of our own community in the past. But those same "find it fast" fools who desecrate areas don't think about the other side of the relic hunting procedure. The troops and people had to move across the land or by crossing rivers. All prime areas for us to hunt today. With permission, of course.
