i came across an old miners concrete foundation that had a square hole 2 -3 feet across.  i had spoken to an old miner that told me a story about cleaning out a hole he found like that and getting alot of gold.  he said they used those pits at night to burn off mercury.  just wondering if any of you has any info regarding these holes in the foundations.  i dug down prob 3 feet but most was trash from vandals and didnt see anything.  thanks

Sometimes holes are just used for trash too. Hard to say until you look.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Careful not to spend to much time in them. They could be full of mercury.  Crazy
