Yes the older the better for sure. However alot of folks back in the day did'nt have much money but what they did have would be a cool find due to its age. I like homes from the 30s and 40s when the banks were'nt trusted and folks buried there money in there yards. As my step son added on the there home the bull dozer broke a jar and spread over 3 grand though-out the yard. At frist was an eyeball find than another and another till the detectors came out.

Vaios, people often cached money in the masonary of stone houses. The loose brick in the fireplace sort of thing.
Last year I was asked to go over the inside of a house and look for a cache of gold bars. It was last owned by an old banker who went through the 1930's and who kept (according to his family) a cache locked in a special closet. One of the grandchildren recalled playing with  gold bars and coins when he was small.  After the old man died the relatives found the  closet empty and no one has yet accounted for the gold. I spent a day and a half going over the inside and found nothing. It is a wooden frame house with a huge central fireplace. I found a loose stone in the fireplace where one might stash a few coins but no room for gold bars. I have a better detector now and I've been thinking about going back and doing the yard sometime.gambol
