Thanks Seldom saved the link and I will have a look at making a tumbler I think that I will go for the vibration type as I once had to make a vibrating table for the manufacture of roof tiles it should be quite easy for me to do.

BA I'm always up for after hours salvage  Club just kiddin.  Cool Looks like they are getting ready to tear it down?

Nice posts Seldom! Lotta good info.

Xavier I attached a basic schematic of how the vib tumbler I have works. The rocks actually roll around like clothes in a dryer and I think it combines a little of both models that way.

And a few thunder eggs for Hardluck. These are some in my dad's display case  Smiley

in a little town like that, it's hard to tell whether they are planning on tearing it down or if it's an unoccupied historical building.  I almost suspect the latter (but another thing for me to check the next time I'm up there)

A geode is a hollow version, a thunderegg the center turns to agate.
Very cool Xavier! Good luck on your PI project. I believe the tumbler I have was made by Diamond Pacific but not 100% sure if it was or where it is at this moment...

BA I hear ya, never know when someone new gets on a city council and decides to make a parking lot to help us all out....

Ok so could you tell us a bit more about the chemistry like how dose it turn to agate? I have found agate but never thought that they were thunder eggs at first
