Brilliant Victory: The Second Civil War Battle of Cabin Creek, Indian Territory

A True Story of the American Civil War
A ragtag Confederate force of Texans and Indians capture
a 300 wagon Union supply train for behind enemy lines.

Author of the book awarded the
Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal
by the United Daughters of the Confederacy
June 2010.

1st Edition. 2002. Limited Hardcover Edition of Only 500 Copies.
224 pages with illustrations, photographs, appendices, notes, bibliography, plus index.
Also includes the "War Record of Brigadier Gen. Richard Montgomery Gano."  Gen. Gano's personal diary that he kept while serving with Gen. John Hunt Morgan's cavalry.

This award winning book tells the true story of the final Confederate raid into what is now northeastern Oklahoma.  The military operation was planned by Confederate Brigadier General Stand Watie and was executed by Brigadier General Richard M. Gano.

Called "one of the most brilliant and daring raids of the Civil War," the raid culminated in the capture  of a Union wagon supply train consisting of more than 300 wagons with goods valued at more than $1.5 million.  The wagon train was captured after a pitched battle on the bluffs of Cabin Creek.

On January 25, 1865, the Confederate Congress passed a resolution officially thanking Watie, Gano and their respective commands for their actions on the 19th of September 1864 at Cabin Creek in the Cherokee Nation.

Personally signed by the author.

Makes a great gift for the History buff in your life.
