Go Up Go Down

Me and my partner have a small Man Room in Canyonville on Main Street.  The big green building across from City Hall.  (The sign on the clapboard outside says "Two Idiots Mining" when I am there.)  Yes, we do manufacture mining equipment, but mostly for ourselves.
After July first, we'll be on the claim using our newly made self-loading six inch sucker.  (According to the legal description, a dredge is a totally different thing, so it is not legally a dredge, even though everyone calls it one.)
Otherwise, just come on out and say "Howdy!"  There's no fee, (I'm a disabled Vet and do this purely for fun, and gold.  Most of my friends are retired, or working people with families out for fun, camping, and BBQ's.)
I'll even teach you how to pan for gold, where to look, and why the gold is there.

There are miners out there who are greedy, mean people, who will shoot you if you get to close to their sluice box.

We are not those kind of people.  We are a collection of people who enjoy the outdoors, and the company of nice people.
We are not Liberals.  There are guns in camp, mostly because of the rattlesnakes.  The Cougars and bears usually leave us alone, but every few years there is a Rabies warning.  Oh, there is a lot of Poison Oak.

Allen, the second Idiot.

That reminds me of something that happened a few years ago.
A man and his two children were asking questions about my six inch sucker.  I pointed out the gold in the box to the little ten-year-old girl, and her five-year-old brother.
She promptly lay full length in the sluice box and started picking out the pickers from the front of the box.  (Pickers are little flakes and nuggets big enough to pick up with your fingers.  Most of them stop at the top, or the head of the sluice box.  The nuggets stop in the hose right before the power jet.)
I had to sit down on the bank, I was laughing so hard.  When I caught my breath, I went and got a little bottle for her to put 'her' gold in.
Her dad was shocked that I wasn't freaking out over the gold, or the kid laying in the sluice box.  I told him that he had the real treasure, two treasures, in fact.
She got to take almost a quarter ounce of gold home with her.  I got to keep the treasure of the memory of her laughter as she found her own little Mother Lode.
The memory still makes me smile.

Allen, the second Idiot.

Yo Miner79r what branch were you in, I'm retired AF "64>84" and disabled to boot. Contracted MS in "73" when I was stationed in NC but it didn't rear it's head until early "91" about seven mos. before 7 yr. cutoff for service connection.

Your story about the little girl is a real gut splitter and a memory to cherish forever.

Hope you didn't take offense to my first post but you left it hanging after you told us about you digs down there, I'm up in Tillamook.

Good luck with your properties and keep laughing, it's good for the heart,
Gramps

Sounds like a wiinner to me, I'll have to try and get down and try the waters, that is if my granddaughters give me the time.  They are always wanting to come down to the "big city" Grin and spend the day at grandma & grandpa's house, if they stay home (12 mi up Wilson River) dad will probably put them to work, bummer.

Y'all take care,
Grampa

No costs, like I said in the Post that didn't make it, just bring yourself, and anything you want to BBQ.  We have retired people and people with families.  No drunks, no drugs, just family stuff.

Go Up Go Down

Oh I forgot to mention transportation, as of the moment we is a one vehicle family, my S10.  The mama san decided she wanted something a little more luxo than an SUV.  So she sold her little, run around town, diesel new bug that she filled up the first of each month and the "Gimmy" Envoy and is now looking for a Buick LaCrosse with all the goodies that a lady likes.  She found one, or should I say her boss found one, for the right price only thing is it's in Idaho City, Idaho.  So I asks her how she's going to get it home and she says so matter of factly "fly over and drive it back."

On my feet and bad knee again,
Gramps

I'm with Gramps, A bit more info on what you are wanting to do with it would be nice. Are you selling, or looking for investors or....? Sounds a bit intriguing to say the least.

I have to apologize for my previous post. I am new to this site, and still learning the layout. I thought I was at the end of this thread when I replied, and now realize that I wasn't. Bare with me for the first bit please. Thanks.

Now that I have read the entire thread, that sounds like just what I need! I'm not too far up I-5 from you. I look forward to making down that way, you guys sound like a fun crowd. Happy Trails!
