Hello belief . The 3.8 ohm DC resistance seems ok for now . IRF 740 is what the Delta Pulse works best with and is on the latest schematic . It sounds like your pulse width is ON to long , check P3 and R4 for proper resistance value . Your TX pulse should only be on for 240 us [micro-seconds] maximum . Make sure you are using R50 1 ohm 1 watt in your circuit . I hope your 3.8 ohm seach coil has enough inductance , 2.8 ohms seems more realistic for the Delta Pulse if I remember correctly ? The longer the pulse width is on the hotter the IRF840 will get . Also try to use at least 680 ohm Damping resistor .
Keep us posted.

Should that be 24 usec?? 240 sounds a bit long. Some articles I have seen, go as short as 5 or 10us.

bajes2008; about the easiest way to get a ground picture is to use an ARC-GEO, on top of the detector you may build.... it uses the tone from the detector to make the picture.

Once you build the detector, and get it working, investigate the ARC-Geo.
