No Ali , the detector will also work on 9 V . But not at full strength . For full operation you should use  two seperate 12 v batteries . Try to get these batteries  as small as possible  ( but still 12 V )  . They dont have to be of high amp/ hour

IT  uses two separate batteries.

Two Nine Volt cells will work to test.

 Great

Yes it works ! I just have one question, is there any connections that have to be made on the PCB, I noticed writing on it. Heres a couple pics.
Second question, do both the Coil wires connect to the center of the RCA plug, and the ground wire to the ground of the RCA plug, is this right ??

The coil wires are marked .  The mark on the left hand side is for  a   + voltage connection while the  - will go to the OV connection . These are the connections for  ONE battery  . The  OTHER  battery is connected as follows  , the minus will go to the indicated connection   while the + will go to the OV connection .  You don't have to worry about this  until you want to hook -up other battery connectors .  Cornelius

Okay, about the coil wires coming from the coil, I have to attach a RCA plug to these coil wires, do both coil wires connect to the positive of the RCA plug and the ground wire to the ground of the RCA plug ?
