Unfortunately there is no such a thing as Free lunch. Angry

You have to compromise. Build something that it’s proven to work, learn of it, save some money and buy/build something better.

As far as I know (other members can correct me if I`m wrong) you can try Gary's pulse 2. It looks like the only Pulse Induction metal detector design (and deeper than regular magazine circuits) that does not need a pre-programmed IC and all components can be bought at Jameco, Mouser, or the like. You can find the circuit and components at the downloads section. I tried but I just run out of patience. It`s a little too complex if you don`t get a pre-etched board, and the chance of making mistakes at the routing stage is big. Good luck anyways.

Miner 4 will go down to 1.5m with small probe, but it's easier to use it with somewhat decreased sensitivity (i.e. down to 1m or so), with 1m x 1m probe it will find 3m deep targets, and still can power larger probes. The discriminator works down to say 30cm, and discriminates between diamagnetic and feromagnetic targets (i.e. ferrous and nonferrous material) with quick small (up to 40cm of diameter) coils, you can forget about discrimination with larger probes.
It's a completely free and tested design (i have made one many years ago, still performs fine).

I don't know. I've never made any of them (yes, there's many different circuits posted) but I've seen some by my friends many years ago. They all went very deep (more than miner4) but ware also very unstable so i used to deem them inferior. But i heard this issue had been dealt with so i really can't advise.
