I bought the whites Surf II but it's a vlf and you have to sweep to find, the store owner talked me out of the Surf PI due to i mostly hunt freshwater lakes and the great lakes. wishing i would have got the pi. it's a real pain with gear on and getting tossed around while trying to pinpoint a target not to mention the find moving with the currents and sand, when you start to dig you cant see to pinpoint. rather dig junk than spend a lot of time trying find the target. good luck, let me know how the project turns out.

i haven't hunted salt water beeches but some of our fresh water lakes are mineralized enough that my Whites mxt will overload when the groung is wet. if set so it does not false it will not find a nickle on the serface.

Hi, I'm new to Thunting.com as well.  I reside in Brisbane, Australia.  About every ten years I renew my interest in metal detecting, each time having to update to the latest technology.  This time I'd be interested in building my own PI unit.  So can anyone recommend a good kit or circuit to build?

I have had similar issues, not real pleased with the depth I get (or rather don't get)

Welcome, new myself.
from what I have read on this forum the 2010 sounds good but not sure yet. there is a small PI unit on this site I'm going to give a try it's "PI Designs, Coils & Projects and Deepseekers" "underwater PI Project"

Someone please correct me if i'm wrong about the DBP 2010.
