I recently saw an episode of Meteorite hunters. They had built a 4'x4' square coil to carry by strap over land to locate deeper iron meteorites. Can anyone tell me what was used to make this?

Those coils are PI coils, Not a Mag.     Look in the Tech section.

It is a highly specialized design using wire and PVC tubing. Not for the amateur coil builder.

I moved this to the proper area.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I used PVC, duct tape and zip ties to make it.  Pretty simple.  Gotta keep all metal off the sled. Trial and error will help you find the style and size that will work the best for you and the coil you are using.
