I'm looking for thoughts?
I've been doing research on coils from 6 inch to larger multi coils d shaped and the figure 8 coil
I'm looking for a deep coil for fine gold
Has anyone researched a Tesla pancake coil for a detector?
Any info would be great.

Don

Xavier has become a well qualified expert on making coils. Self taught. He knows a lot about what he is discussing.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I sure believe that a great number of you people on this site are experts schooled or self taught
I've asked many questions and someone answered them in one form or another.
not always the way i wanted but.... tough love
on the sites I'm on people look to me for answers and every newbie ask the dumbest questions so i understand.

Correction mate there is no such thing as a dumb question OK let me put it to you this way... a young child come to you and says where dose milk come from...would you consider that as a dumb question?  Or an inquiring mind?

on the sites I'm on people look to me for answers and every newbie ask the dumbest questions so i understand.

When you first asked about this subject, you wanted to know about using an Arduino and I gave you a good reply. Since they use an interpretive language instead of a native compiled language, they take up to 6 times longer to process a routine. If the routine is a long one, that means a huge amount of time. When you swing a coil back and forth, detect a target, you have less than 1/1000th of a second to either analyze it or report it via sound. Which do you think is faster? The sound, of course.

Thus, the answer I gave you, while simplified, is correct and you shouldn't take it as any kind of put-down or negative comment. It's just the facts of life in the computer world. As your experiences grow, so does your knowledge. If you have the time, you should try your ideas - I even said that. You can then see for yourself what I was talking about. Believe me, you have not been given bad advice but nobody likes to have their ideas discussed like this. We try to be gentle but often times the quick answer is the easiest at the time. I had more time this morning so I give your question more time.

Good luck with your project. I hope it all works out for you in the end.

In no way did i take anything as bad or a put down of any kind.
In HHO devices they consider me a expert that might be because of my patent.
On the site, i, like you guys get many questions and give a answer do to time. i completely understand.
just newbies ask weird things/questions part of the learning process..
It is all good. sorry if you misunderstood my comments.
