Over here I paid about $1448 AUD which is not too bad I would go with the TDI SL because it is A lot smoother to use and you can Crank up the Gain to the Max where as the TDI Pro does not like running above 7 to 8+ and the threshold warbles a lot where as the SL is Perfect. Oh and you cant take the TDI Pro Batteries on a Plane Because they are Lithium.

That's an extract from the white's dealer web site:
White's TDI PRO (Oz Series)
$2,345.00
The TDI-Pro (Oz Series) is specifically calibrated for prospecting in the Australian goldfields.
An affordable, pulse induction, ground-balancing detector unlike any other detector on the market today.

I think if i ever decide to buy one i will from the US.
It will cost about $1450 AU including shipping and tax

I am currently building the surf p.i. to hit the beach sometime before christmas hopefully. I,ve finished populating the circuit board etc.Question : can a surf p.i be converted to use a dual field search coil? Also any tips on waterproofing the machine, especially the headphone jack.

yes you can make a dual field coil (two in Serie)

but Problem is to find the right specs, Ratio of inner and outer coil
ad heared that inner coil should be 2/3 from the dia of outer coil
to get an additionel effect on field strenght on some cm of depth

the art is to biuld it so that you dont loose sensivity for small items
had test it some times but ist hard and i had no luck

you also have to Change the damping resistor, also delay present and maybe pulse on time (pulsewidth)
