The only Double D coil using a single winding that I know of is a figure 8 coil.

Electrically, that's the configuration. Double the coil diameter for calculations and windings. Then fold it by giving it a half twist into that figure 8 pattern.

It's not really a Double D in characteristics. Only in shape. I have tested this configuration once a long time ago and my notes say it is no better than a mono coil in performance.

Do you know the theory behind a Double D coil? There's a reason for its design and it's all down to phase relationships needed for ground cancelling. A PI machine has no need to be ground canceled. A PI machine goes through mineralization like it isn't even there.
