Hi X,
Does seem like it's something to do with the timing ...... god knows what though... likely as not be something pretty simple.
I'll get back to you when I think of something!
BTW - I built the little detector I posted up (EPE "Bounty"), it's only a handful of components
and you can build it easy in a few hours.
Boy was I surprised! This thing works REALLY well!
It'll pick up a euro coin at 24 cm! ...... in air!  Shocked

If all the capacitance values on your circuit board are correct and the search coil is above 2.5 ohms dc resistance , and your voltage regulation and supply voltages are good . Then one thing you are forgetting is resistance values , especially when related to opamp circuit gain . Do you have proper gain or over driven stages causing instability of the DBP-2010 ?

Check all the IC chips and the resistors connected to them . Are all the transistors the right gain .

I am just throwing some ideas your way .

Best Regards............Eugene

Eugene I followed the instructions given to me by Cornelius I used the component values as given. I will check all components But just tell me one thing should I be getting a click every second or so?

Hello again . Check pin 2 at IC2=4017 , oscilloscope should read 90-130 hz frequency depending on potentiometer P2 25k ohm setting going to IC1b pin 11 of 556 chip.

Cornelius is not available , but he should be the "expert" to help you . I am just a Metal Detector hobby builder guru . I think you are very close to finding the problem yourself anyway !! Let's keep troubleshooting on this in the meantime . I have a ton of files on this project , even one's that no one here has seen yet !!  Shocked

Best regards..........Eugene

Regards Xavier
Eugene I checked the frequency on the scope on time can be set and frequency but it is not a nice square wave more of a sawtooth got some files from the CZ site they show what it should look like and this is not it.

Regards Xavier

Hello Xavier and Everyone . Yup the CZ electronic site is great , and I am not trying to start an argument !!
When you get the square wave "squared up" , you will almost have your detector ready
to go .
Troubleshooting is a great way to learn electronics even for the experts on this forum and even the "on paper" expert engineers  Shocked . Glad I am not a "engineering on paper expert"  Cheesy just a "Electronic Hobby Builder Guru" having fun on this forum !! By the way , Golddigger1950 is a great member to consult , and he is very knowledgeable when anyone needs help , just thought I would mention that to all the Electronic MD hobby builders here .

I have the DBP 2010 article of 6 megabytes if you need it . You will be done with this 2010 project soon anyway .

HH..... Great.....Eugene

Xavier, if you want some advice on this, tell where each of those waveforms are being taken on the schematic. Also, are you using a straight wire or a scope probe? There's a chance that your images are not what's really there. I'm pretty sure you're using your PC sound card for the readings. Is that the case?

Hey guys I am back . The only thing I can say about the DBP2010 is that I built two units . Both are working beter than I ever expected . Be sure to use a battery of about 7 AH  though !    Cornelius

Hey Cornelius

Welcome back we were starting to get worried about your well being.

GD yes using a sound card and even though they will not give the best results they still let you know what's happening and as you know a real scope is totally out of my reach so this will just have to do for now any how here is the wave form that I should be getting also I'm not getting a square form out of pin two and that is where the problem starts. (Well that's what I think)

Regards Xavier
