Hi again,
is there any known replacement for a LF 357N JFET OPAMP (which would work in the same circuit). How should trimmers be adjusted (voltage)?  What are all potentiometers for?

tnx

Hello , There are a few substitutes which are close , Here are two , see the pdf data sheet and images .

I will post my big cross reference sheet , If I can find it !! Shocked

I will also check the DBP schematic to list the external and internal Potentiometer information , AGAIN if I can find it !!! Best Regards.............Eugene52

Hello , I have a lot more information but I am short on time today !!!

I will post more later on "today" !!

 Great..............Eugene52

the TL2071 has the best specs and lower noise and is about 60 cents more !! still a bargain Shocked

Go Up Go Down

Hallo, I am a new member, but I have many years experience in metaldetecting and creating metal detectors. After using a different pinpointers (off_resonance, Q-meter type etc.), I use now only such ferrite probe for my PI detector during last 10 years. Using a switch in my detector I can change detector's head to pinpointer's rod very quickly. To turn switch and to push "0" button that's all what I need. My recommendations for good result are:

1. Use the short ferrite rod, 3 to 5 sm length to minimize dependence from Earth magnetic field.
2. Windings must be done more at the end by many groups and a fewer to the opposite end (looks like onion). Such configuration takes more sensitivity at the end of probe.
3.Number of turns and wire must be match to inductance and resistance  of the detector's search head.
4. Wind a triplex or quadruplicate thin wire over rod windings and connect one end to ground, that is the electrostatic screen.
5. The tube of rod must be made of a hard plastic or other hard insulator and to be at least 10 - 12 sm lenght. Enlogation can be made of metal tube.
Good luck,
 Sasha.

Cornelius, with my DBP 2010 I can not discriminate.
This is it in the settings I hurt or has a change that I would not have ?

greeting

Hi,
i have just finished 1m x 1m coil for my Miner4 and i have a piece of advice for everyone about to built a deep seeking instrument: put it in a plastic housing and use METAL FOIL (Cu or similar) for FR shilding. I boxed mine in metal housing and i "find" my own detector each time i move. And longer cabel means higher losts and lower sensitivity. Do not copy my mistakes.

Hi,
i am about to build a DBP 2010 (have ordered all the parts and now waiting to show up in my mail) and as far as i can read and evaluate schematics this is rather a "tunning" detector than a discriminating one (some old ppl in spying bussiness might remember "tunning" amplifiers with two noch filters before first preamp stage). This is a very very good idea and just migth work like a charm. Worth to try. I had an honour to try out an commercial PI (PulsStar II or something- oh it's a beauty) and, i would not like to say something wrong, but let just say the discriminator below 1m of depth works "just as good as mine". (check my web page to see what that means). And in my oppinion (and experiances) there is no home-brew-two-processor recepie to go say more than 0.5m and retain a fair discrimination.  If you want good discrimination and extras up to 0.5m deep, get a VLF, that would be my advice.

Hi,
welcome to the club of DBP in 2010!
if you have a problem to detect gold with a PI is your coil is not fast enough or not enough your sampling near the pulse

Cornelius,
I'm also interested in making a strong PI detector. I already made one called Goldpic, bought coded chip and PCB from it's inventor, in South Africa. It works well, but made primarily with a small coil and could not have grat depht with adapted 1mx1m coil and is not stable.
I found on this forum schematics for DBP2010 and also another one, similar, I think Pulse Scan is the name.. Do you know which of the two or another is worth making? I'm not interested in complicated machines with a lot of pots just to experiment, but in a strong machine simple to use. Thank you.
