Does anyone have the plans for this detector? The download files are invalid.

I looked, but it's very confusing. Some say it is on the download page. Some say that some plans were from an earlier version and aren't verified. I haven't found a "here is the final plan" download that is clearly indicated. Also, is there info on calibrating it?

This looks like a fairly simple design. What's the difference between this and say a $1500 Minelab PI unit?

So, a minelab isn't any more sofisticated?

The point is whatever counts more , sofistication or depth reading .   Cornelius
Let's face it . I was the one that promoted the DBP2010 on this forum . As soon as that happened I saw a lot of people trying to change the original schematic into something concocted by some whise-guys trying to improve on the original . Maybe  my original schematic and partslist  etc  etc  was use by some members  , and maybe some realy build this detector .I am convinced however that a lot of guys tried to go the other way and held toward the  ,, new ,,  schematics .   I noticed one thing though and that is that all the new PCB's did not include the PCB for the module . The module is an important part of the detector . The reason it should not be put on the same PCB as the main detector is interference with the proper working of the detector .  Up to now I only have been in contact with one serious builder of the DBP2010 , and that is  Darkkitten .  He  reworked the original PCB sothat everybody could understand the schematic . So lets not talk about sofistication of a detector . The DBP2010 is sofisticated enough . It is the best PI detector on the market sofar . I invite anybody to prove me wrong . Cornelius

Thank you for your reply Cornelius. I was contemplating the cost of 400-500 to build it and wondered if it wouldn't be better to spend the extra 1000 on a factory build, tested, proven unit. But, you never know what's inside. PI technology is fairly straightforward. Minelab has to pay for a lot of advertising and overhead. Sounds good to me.

Go Up Go Down

Hi,
i have tested a lot of commercial machines, thought i would not like to make negative advertising, they ware all nice detectors, but i couldn't agree more with Cornelius, most of devices i have seen could not match my Miner4 depth-wise, and DBP is even better machine. The best i have ever built.
The material costed me approx. EUR 300 for everything, (ready to use detector, boxed and baged) even thought i had to order some pasts by Farnell (they are excellent dealer, but they tend to be more expencieve than local dealers).

regards
d.
