Hello PowerLab,
That is a great deal of knowledge and thank you for sharing that with us.This will open a bit the door on understanding how this PI MD works. And also for sure did shed some light on how i"m going to see this from now on.

Regards
Thank You

You welcome.

Sharing knowledge is always good thing. I believe in "tenfold rule" - every good advice/help to other people, sooner or later will back ten times more to you when you need help.

This is a fine place to share things but we find a lot of "sharing" is being done by people who are not really knowledgeable in what they put forth. One piece of incorrect information takes a lot to overcome. Once it's "out there" in the forums, it can be lost among the real gems and cause problems for years.

In this very topic, for example, there are 24 pages of messages representing over 300 contributions. Some of the so called advice given here is blatantly wrong and people are still trying it. The incorrect data is what the experts here spend the most time correcting.

Trust me. You'll see what I mean soon enough.

Hello po, I am just new here and got interested about the subject/topic however, I don't have knowledge in electronics. How I wish to have this kind of equipment. In case someone wants to sell their excellent PI detector, may I know how much would it cost, what are included and what is the test results? In case, you may contact me thru my email: mami_lai@yahoo.com

Thank you and hoping for your kind consideration.

Hello, 'ann2010'.

If you made decision to buy delta pulse from someone who build it from circuits circulating around, be aware that this circuits are scrambled. Yesterday found one spot on the circuit, where is source of instability of auto-tuning. By just swapping places of two resistors, R29 (1MOhm) and R30 (22 kOhm), one may got excellent stability, but not good sensitivity.

I found many other errors, "patched" by some transistors and diodes. Main integrator/discriminator not working properly (please see "Hammerhead" PI MD for proper diagram of integrator/discriminator), and that is reason for really bad sensitivity.

Also, there is possible to add another potentiometer for adjusting sampling width - R8 (27 kOhm), replacing by small resistor (cca 1.5 kOhm) and potentiometer of about 25 kOhm. That will allow changing in sampling width and thus avoiding need for higher frequency.

I hope it helps for other people having problems I have.

Regards,
m--

Mr Logenxxx, thanks for your reply. As of now, I am just trying to be informed about the latest technology in metal detector. 8years ago, we used dowsing rod and "esperitista" but end up nothing in 3 holes. We stopped it.

I came here in this forum when I tried to search for a detector. I got interest on how to own a XR71 but I don't know about electronics. I learned you already built one and tested, congrats po kabayan. Ask lang po ng favor, paano nyo po ako matulungan? Thanks.

Mr PowerLab, thank you very much for an honest and very good advice. With my desire to buy it, you wake me up that its not that easy to buy. I appreciate so much your help. BY the way, what can you recommend for me to buy which is not much expensive but with very good quality to detect gold at around 20-40ft deep the ground. Thanks again.

There is no such thing. Sorry.

Eh, need to quote myself. I made error in calculation: not 25 kOhm + 1.5 kOhm, but 250 kOhm (some value higher than 25 kOhm) + 1 kOhm. This will allow sampling width of ~ 1.6 uS - 415 uS.

LOL ...I have no idea what all that means, but thank you. I have alot of free time, and and almost uncontrolable desire to assemble things so that will work out for me.
