Hello all i hope to give mor information about a pi detector. what are the main difference between BFO and PI Metal Detector

The PI sends pulses into the ground and measures the rate of return to detect a target. A BFO sends an electromagnetic field into the ground and is more affected by ground minerals. The BFO, because of it's frequency, has more ferrous-nonferrous discrimination ability. You won't have to worry about hairpins, paper clips, and very small nails. So with one you have more depth, the other, more sanity. Grin

why did they do away with the BFO  or are they still made ? if so who makes them ?

Mostly because they drift like crazy and need constant retuning.
They don't go very deep either - probably 3-5 inches is the best you'll ever get on a coin.
And they LOVE foil,pulltabs,nails,tacks etc etc.....
As far as I'm aware,no one makes one anymore and probably not for at least 15 years...
