You got that right,I have had a gun put to my head so they could get the cache a couple times, nothings worth a bullet out in no mans land. After all the work I put out they didn't want to share the loot like they said.   shortribs.

Hello
Does not hurt to ask and tell us all what the costs are as part of a research. The University may also know where to least or at least where they bought the one they have.  Idea

Finding one is no problem.  Cost is the problem.

Like this one said does not hurt to ask.   Buying one is most likely not going to happen.

I was contacted by PM and asked why I told everyone it was not possible. Please note, I simply pointed out the difficulties. I never said it wasn't possible.

Imagine a suitcase sized chest of gold planted in the ground a meter or so deep in a field or area of unknown size. The notion was to electrify the ground to aid in finding the gold. I pointed how how hard it would be to find it even if you could electrify a large land area. As has been pointed out by several others here, using a modern detector and having a good idea where the item is located is the only way to do it with current technology. Even GPR has limits. No matter what technique you use, you still have to be close to the treasure to find it. You can't electrify an entire county and scan the area from your camp site.

So, onward! Keep coming up with ideas. Even try some that I said were hard. You might just be the person to make it work.

Hello
One can always rent some small equipment to 'Slice off the top two feet' then start metal detecting again.  If necessary do it again until down to the level you need to be.  By the by one could also buy a electric jack hammer to put on the end of the 6 foot metal probe this one pointed out in the above posts to really speed up the 700 probes you may need to do.  Detecting  Idea

Good point there Homefire would suggest 'Grading' say a garden size plot maybe 6 by 10 at a time on a weekend with rented equipment.  Get the whole family out there so as it looks like one is putting in a garden or landscaping on the weekend so as to not 'Scare the neighbors"..... No no!  Thumbs Down.   Then just quick re-fill in with hay and some grass seed with water.  Be sure to put down some big tarps to put the re-fill dirt on.  Great     Kiss

All the dry holes I have seen were very shallow. I have heard of vaults being at 10' feet. Areas I have suspected of vaults would require a lot of man power. The one thing that has been in common is rock in some form or shape. The day I find one is the day I dont post on here anymore lol. Pretty sure they wont have wifi where Ill go. Now lets hope they can reverse all these national monuments so I can go out and hunt again.
