Here are 3 important files of the Garrett XL 500 P.I. . It has been discontinued some time ago , and the Sea Hunter MK II has taken its place . Next , later on I will post the 2nd part of this new topic which is about the Garrett XL 500 which is a VLF version !! IT is confusing but they look identical and are easily mixed up !! Idiot Idiot Idiot Crazy Crazy Crazy

But both the versions will provide some good information and technical knowledge !!  Here are a few to get this topic started , then I will post again later after I compress some over-sized files :

Hi Eugene, I have been thinking about building a xl500 for a while and wondered where you got these schematics? Thanks for posting them  Smiley Have you built and tested a machine from these drawings? if so what were the results like?

Regards Jim.

From all over the Internet , Since August 2001 . But this one that you see above has already been modified and improved . Just since Feb.2009 a lot has changed on some projects . Check our new Download area for XL-500 .
I personally did not build this Garrett PI model posted above . I have owned a few Garrett VLF ADS models in the past but never a Garrett PI machine . Search the information on our forum . If you find something interesting or missing check back with us . Best of Luck on your projects .

HH..............Eugene

Standard Sample timing is in the order of 40us. after TX shut down.

I did a Mod changing one resister that can bring it down to 7us bringing them down to finding small nuggets.

The 5oo comes without a shielded coil.

The 200 made for beach hunting has a shielded coil , same circuit board .

The board is quite compact.

Charges batteries through the head phone jack.
