I'm a new member. I want to construct a giant search coil to find big/deep treasure & meterorites. I want to pull it with a four wheeler. I can't seem to find any place to get info on size & type of wire, ratios, construction of frame etc. Any one point me in the right direction??
I din't know if I need to build a detector or adapt the coil to one of my current detectors. Thanks, All

Hello wb1951 . Welcome to the Forum !!  The large search coil you want to build is powered by a PI [Pulse Induction] Metal Detector . Just keep posting on the Forum and your questions will be answered .

The size of the TX loop should not be increased arbitrarily because on it depends the GND signal generated by soil .
Typically, the soil has a conductivity and so the metal detector causes eddy currents in it. They run a loop that mirrors the TX loop,ie seemed there is second TX loop having the same diameter but buried in the ground.
From this follows that the soil conductivity creates GND signal having fundamental time constant that we can change designing properly the diameter of the TX loop. We can not change the timeconstant of target because its size is smaller than the diameter of the TX loop.
The task of the designer is to choose so the diameter of the TX loop, that to obtain the time constant of GND less than timeconstant of the target. This achieves lower GND signal and the detector can distinguish from its background the target signal.
The rule is that the diameter of the TX loop is limited by soil conductivity. For example, when searching in a salt sea, the diameter of TX loop must not exceed 26 cm.
Attached photos show large frames that are not applicable to high conductive and saline soils.
